Abstract

Inspired by the eighty-eight official constellations, this book explores one poet’s associations between these stellar stories and life on Earth. Poems in Light Years, Dark Matter explore fictional, mythological, cultural, and personal perspectives. Each is an exercise in free association that offers an accessible and contemporary interpretation of astronomical nomenclature assigned hundreds or even thousands of years ago. Each piece connects the dots between then and now, up there and down here, and plays with the plentiful creativity the stars and astronomy inspire.
