Abstract

Cleavage is a collection of contemporary poems about the author’s experience with cancer, the effects of war, and relationships and nature. They attempt to identify opposing forces in the world and within individuals and are an effort toward reconciliation. These poems are specific to the writer in detail, but they allude to the changes and challenges everyone faces. They also suggest possibilities for growth, clarity, and healing.
