Abstract

Horror stories are amongst the oldest forms of entertainment. The horror genre has focused on death, evil, demons, and life. The genre plays with the darker side of our psyches—the shadow self—and creates monsters, witches, creatures, ghosts, and people that awaken those forbidden parts. “Shadow Selves: A Collection of Short Horror Stories” subjects the reader to the side of their personality that they don’t want to admit they have. This collection of short stories explores different avenues of the typical horror tropes, while keeping true to the tradition of telling terrifying tales.
