    Abstract
    <p>This article is from an address the author made to Division 26 of the American Psychological Association. It reviews the development of psychological services provided to deaf persons in the United States. The article discusses the evolution of psychological testing, personality assessment, treatment of psychopathology, and the role of linguistics and sign language in psychology and deafness.</p>
