Abstract
This project has two parts. The first part is a short, one-act play satirizing ambition in an inner city office environment. The play centers on the competition between two office workers, Steven and Jane, and "Flunkie" Frankie. The three are called to the 16th floor by their boss, Mr. Finch. On their journey they experience a series of mishaps that reveal their characters. Part two applies an understanding of the writing process to teaching high school students about writing plays. The lesson unit engages students in groups to write one-act plays. The students will experience their own creative process, as well as the editing process, as their own work goes through a series of "cold readings."
