Abstract
This project is a short story that focuses on the character Jonas Black, a widower whose job is to paint pictures of locations throughout the United States for a tourist magazine. Jonas is terrified of the dark due to his childhood memories of being thrown in the basement by his abusive father. When he comes to the town of Railstone, Tennessee, he is faced with something much greater than these fears. Jonas has to cope with loneliness and the loss of his family while trying to maintain his own sanity amongst strange happenings in the town that seems to know him better than he knows himself.
