This collection of short stories focuses on Millie Brenton, a 22-year-old college dropout and girlfriend of deployed Army medic, Jack Morris. Each story, written from the point of view of Millie, sheds light on how different aspects of her life are affected by Jack's deployment to Afghanistan. From living on her own, to driving, dealing with Jack's parents, and being forced to make a difficult decision regarding their relationship, Millie learns to get through each day, battling both her emotions and fears until the day Jack returns home.
